The Feederbrook Fiber Project
The Feederbrook Farm Fiber Project is
designed to give those who do not have sheep an opportunity to
experience sheep farming and the fiber production process. This year
long program gives participants eight opportunities to visit the farm
and the sheep during important times of the year such as shearing,
lambing and halter training etc. This project is similar to adopt a
sheep, but more hands on and educational. Participants buy one share of a
sheep (kind of like a wool CSA) and get the quarterly news letter,
invites to the farm during shearing, after the lambs have arrived,
training and maintaining during the summer months and wool processing
(washing, carding, spinning and dying) . Also toward the end of the
year members get two skeins of hand spun yarn from their sheep with
patterns included and a knitting class. This project is great for
families, home schoolers and anyone interested in sheep, farming, wool
and fun. Yearly fee is $120 or a monthly fee of $20 for each farm
visit. Email or call to sign up for this unique and educational
program. Schedule outline is listed below
